Greetings from Sunny AZ!

We flew out of PDX on Saturday at 9:30 AM and arrived in Phoenix right around noon. A perfectly uneventful flight, which was certainly what we hoped for. And the girls really enjoyed having a whole row just for themselves!

We enjoyed a night at a hotel in Tempe, which included three swims (our girls LOVE to swim!). We found a church to go to on Sunday and were encouraged in the Word, and then we spent the afternoon at a really cool park in Scottsdale called McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. It was a great 24 hour mini-vacation before arriving at the UIM Headquarters on Sunday around dinnertime. We got settled into a 3 bedroom apartment on campus and enjoyed beginning to get to know the other missionaries and prospective missionaries who are here.

There are three couples who are being trained and interviewed this week. One, of course, is us! But then there is a young couple from Missouri who are planning to join UIM Aviation, where the husband will serve as an airplane mechanic in support of the missions aviation program. And then the third couple are from Cuba, and have hopes to return to Cuba to strengthen and support churches there.

One of our previous prayer requests was that the babysitting situation for our girls would be good, and our minds were set at ease right away. Our girls loved their first day with Joanna, and we are so thankful!

Tomorrow has much more classroom learning ahead. And then tomorrow evening after dinner, Leanne and I will sit with the UIM Personnel Committee for our formal interview. We sure appreciate you praying with us and for us as we are here!

Prayer Needs

  • Rosie came down with a fever today. She is feeling better tonight, and we are hopeful that continues. We are also very hopeful that none of the rest of us get sick!
  • For classroom endurance. It’s hard work for people who’ve been out of school so long to sit in class all day!
  • That our interview on Tuesday night would go well, as we both answer questions and ask some of our own questions.

Thank you for praying with us! We are so blessed!
